New Tools
Several new diagnostic and service tools will be necessary to support GT-R. These include:
• Consult 3 software & attachments
• Brake Caliper Wrench
• Gouge-resistant gasket scraper.
The cost of these tools was included in the estimated amounts described in last week’s letter, and will be incorporated into the Initial certification cost listed on each participant dealer’s agreement. Oct. 17 (Bloomberg) — Nissan Motor Co. plans to deploy specialized sales and technical staff to help sell its most expensive sports car, the new GT-R, as Japan’s third-largest automaker aims to take away sales from Porsche AG and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG.
About 160 of 2,400 sales outlets in Japan will have at least one sales person and one technical staff member dedicated to serving buyers of the 7.8 million yen ($67,000) GT-R by March 31, Takao Katagiri, corporate vice president in charge of Nissan’s domestic marketing, said at a press conference in Tokyo today. The model goes on sale in Nissan’s home market in December.

Nissan aims to win back customers with the GT-R after the carmaker’s domestic sales fell 5 percent to about 332,000 vehicles in the six months through September from a year earlier. The model will compete with Porsche AG’s Cayman, which costs from 6.3 million yen, and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG’s M3, with a starting price of 9.96 million yen.
The specialized dealers will also sell other Nissan cars, the company said.
Nissan fell 2 percent to 1,126 yen as of 1:14 p.m. on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The Tokyo-based automaker projects earnings will rebound this fiscal year after reporting its first profit decline in seven years in the year ended March 31.
